User Guide to XPlayer May Convince You to Let Go OF MX Player - Free Donwload

MX Player has existed around the Android scene long before there was a popular desktop media player, like VLC. Although VLC took a sweet time coming to Android, it still lost to MX Player for a number of different reasons. The MX Player's rise to popularity is its ability to play any video, in any format on your Android device. Back then, there were mostly two such video playback apps, there are now many. But MX Player reigns supreme because we are familiar with his style. XPlayer is just a little bit better than MX Player and even beat it in terms of features.

It will not be as much as an app review compared to the MX Player that has managed to stay on top for years and will probably still do it.

Video Playback is alright

As already mentioned, there is no shortage of today's video player apps on Android that can play videos of any format. XPlayer is even named Video Player All Format on the Google Play Store to highlight this functionality. Playback is actually equivalent to MX Player if not better. It's been a month or so since I've been using this app but I'm not watching as many videos on my phone as I used to go back in that day. That is, I will not claim to have extensively tested this app, but I highly doubt you'll find playback issues.

MX Player mops the floor with XPlayer in terms of features

MX Player is a video player packed with features. There are so many developers who have to categorize it so as not to confuse users. However, I can bet the money that most users will lose for a while if they have to go through an extensive list of settings. If you are someone who wants to have each and every one of these features, you'll find XPlayer less serious in this department.

That can be a bad thing for some people, but not most. The most widely used MX Player features such as volume boost when playing videos using the SW decoder, or the ability to choose between HW and SW decoders still exist. You can still enjoy background playback, resume where you go, and swipe to control functions such as volume, brightness, search, etc.

All in all, most of the features a person wants are already here. More advanced features such as themes and customization list options that MX Player offers can not be found. Similarly, you can not stream the network, or use it to play music files, edit subtitle settings, and so on. There are a lot of MX Player but XPlayer does not.

Why XPlayer it?

Do not let the lack of a serious feature hold you back though. On paper, XPlayer is not suitable for MX Player but you have to ask, have you ever actually used that feature? Many power users might do it but I would be surprised if most people do it. Anyway, this video player more than your way is better. Customized shopping hours are certainly not my cup of tea. XPlayer does offer a choice between light and dark themes.

It's been over a month and I've never even deliberately searched for MX Player, an app I've used since I got to know Android. And unlike XPlayer does not give you a reason to switch. If you're a Chromecast user, XPlayer supports your local video transmission to your Chromecast. This is one MX Player feature that will not exist, and I've been waiting for more than a year. This is the only reason I ever tried XPlayer in the first place.

Sure, you can always cast your screen, but you can not do anything with your phone while watching a video. Not to mention incoming notifications can ruin the fun, may also be a privacy risk. Or you can download other apps to cast your local videos on Chromecast. Thus, add to the growing list of applications.

Furthermore, if you have not purchased MX Player Pro, the ads in the free version are really bad. There were times when they were not prominent but the time was not there anymore. Like MX, Xplayer is also ad-supported. However, unless you see a small floating giftbox icon, you probably will never know the ad exists.

There is also a private safe, sorts. This lets you lock the video behind the PIN, if you need one. And by the way, no, InShot Inc., the XPlayer developers have not paid me for this.
