Mother shames mentally ill woman on Facebook after allegedly getting doused in Coke by her

A woman has spoken about Singapore's need to raise awareness of mental illness and how to deal with those who struggle with it.

According to a virus post by Kathie Koh, whose brother is said to be diagnosed with schizophrenia and anxiety disorder, a woman has chosen to humiliate her mentally ill sister and even degrade the girl by naming her sad names.

What seemed to happen on Monday was that the woman had passed through Fajar LRT station with her daughter when she saw Koh's sister sitting beside the stairs. The sister allegedly threw some coke at her mother, pushing the last one to call the police to her. The police arrived at the scene and discovered that the girl had a history as a patient of the Institute of Mental Health. The police officer then helps Koh's sister go home.

But here's the troubling part. Despite knowing that the other side is mentally ill, the woman feels entitled to take a picture of the girl and post it on Facebook, encouraging everyone to share it. This is accompanied by a crude statement labeling Koh's sister as "girl (c ** bai)" and "bitch", and demands that the girl stay at home before she becomes a dangerous risk to the public.

It is a rather derogatory rebuke against those who are struggling with psychiatric disorders who are just trying to live a normal life.

“My sister is already having a hard time"

Calling it "a clear example of the lack of education our country still has mental illness", Koh wrote his own Facebook post to defend his sister. According to Koh, his sister regularly goes out in the neighborhood and is cared for by a neighbor who knows about her suffering.

"The lady claimed that she was only glancing at me and because of my sister's paranoia, she may have misinterpreted her to something more aggressive," Koh explained about why her sister might be acting up.

Koh has no problem with the woman who babbles about the quarrel and even apologizes to her for the girl's actions. What Koh does offense is the fact that women post the identity of a mentally ill genius and choose to humiliate him despite knowing about his psychiatric struggle.

OP's own sister spoke

Ensuing drama is opened, as is the nature of this online post. The sister who made the original post jumped into Koh's commentary to defend her actions.

The opinion wave in the comments section remained on Koh's side and his sister. It is important to remember, however, that the main reason why Koh's post was founded was to raise awareness of the suffering faced by the mentally ill.

"My sister is already having trouble with her condition and I hope it raises awareness of people who are facing similar conditions and how we can help."
