Ronaldo's goal helps Portugal knock Morocco out of World Cup 2018

Cristiano Ronaldo gave the home a header in the fourth minute to give Portugal a 1-0 win over Morocco at the World Cup which took them top of Group B and left the unlucky North African team the first to be knocked out of the tournament.

Ronaldo's fourth goal of Russia 2018, following a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw with Spain, brought the European champions four points on Wednesday.

Iran has three points and Spain have one before their meeting on Wednesday.

Morocco, who actually went to Luzhniki Stadium but failed to change their chances, lost points, also lost 1-0 to Iran last week, and mathematically could not advance to the second round.

Regardless of their brave appearance, Morocco will regret the unforgivable defense that makes all of their good works subsequently irrelevant.

They qualified for the World Cup without conceding a goal in six games but somehow chose not to mark the most dangerous attacker in the tournament in the six-yard box when Joao Moutinho swung a cross from a short angle and Ronaldo deservedly buried his header.

It was his 85th international goal, taking him out of Hungary Hungary's Ferenc Puskas record, with only Ali Daei of Iran ahead of him in 109.
