LineageOS 15.1 Arrives Unofficially For OnePlus 6

OnePlus devices are always popular because of the price that always hit the sweet spot between flagships and low-end phones. Over the years, flagships have managed to distinguish themselves from devices that have similar specifications, to a certain extent. For example, OnePlus 6 is not suitable for Galaxy S9 if you do not care about money. The price for OnePlus flagship has also been close to the recent stock price point. Although the price of OnePlus devices continues to increase even though they are still high value for money. They have been well populated into the market left by Nexus devices from Google. Thus, the OnePlus flagship enjoys almost the same developer support. OnePlus 6, for example, was launched in May 2018 and two months down the road it already has an official LineageOS 15.1 build for it.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.”

LineageOS 15.1 Arrives Unofficially For OnePlus 6

LineageOS 15.1

This LineageOS creation for OnePlus 6 has been unified by LuK1337, based on the Android Open Source Project. I have been following the development of ROM since the first release. It has been updated regularly and has received about 15 updates in 10 days. It is safe to say that ROM is still in active development and work is under way. Even so, ROM is quite stable and is suitable as a daily driver if you're bored with Oxygen OS. It should be noted that you will miss most of the OS Oxygen tweaks and features such as motion navigation.

Since LineageOS is known to provide a very stock-like Android experience, LineageOS does not try to replicate features like navigation navigation. You still have Always On Display or Lift to get up, but there seems to be a bit of a buggy nowadays. Consider the rate of ROM updates that may be fixed by the time this article is published. The camera quality on Lineage OS is also not equivalent to what you get in Oxygen OS. Like other things, this could change in the near future. Apart from this, Lineage OS 15.1 for OnePlus 6 has some additional bugs. The initial state of the warning slider seems to be problematic and the screen remains off during offline charging.

None of these are bugs that solve the problem but a slightly lower camera quality can change your mind. You should still try it though because by the time you read this may be the quality of the camera has been fixed. It might be a good idea to check the comments in the development thread or add your own question about it. You can get a development thread by clicking on the source link at the bottom of this article.

WARNING

Other large or small bugs may also be missing here. Before you continue and install ROM, you must be ready to handle the problem. Furthermore, installing custom ROMs can be a considerable risk and you may end up with unusable devices. Both ROM and DroidViews developers are not responsible for anything that happens on your device. Continue with your own responsibilities.

Install LineageOS 15.1 on OnePlus 6

Installing LineageOS on the OnePlus 6 is pretty easy despite all the confusion with the A/B partition system. Keep in mind though that while this is the official procedure to install it, and it has worked for many including me, it seems to have not worked for many others.

Download LineageOS and GApps from the links provided above. Also, download Magisk if you want to root LineageOS after installation and the TWRP installer if you still want to keep TWRP recovery after installation.

Transfer all the files to your OnePlus 6 or a USB OTG which you’ll then have to connect to your device.
Reboot your OnePlus 6 into recovery mode.
Power it off.

Press and hold Power and Volume down buttons together.

When the phone vibrates, leave the Power button and continue to hold down the Volume down button until you see the TWRP splash screen.

In the recovery, select Wipe > Advanced Wipe, then select just the data and cache partitions and swipe at the bottom to wipe them.

Now select Install and then select the downloaded LineageOS file, swipe at the bottom to flash it. Select Install again and this time flash the TWRP installer zip.

Go to Reboot and select Recovery. This will reboot your device into recovery.

Flash the GApps now as you flashed the ROM.

Select Reboot > System.
