7 EASY Tricks That Increase Battery Durability for Apple Watch

Planning to pick Apple Watch? Here's how to get the most out of your shiny new device

No matter how cool Apple Watch is, it's only useful as long as the battery lasts. After all, if it does not turn on, it's useful to you like any other bracelet on your wrist. Until Apple Watch launches on Friday, Apple is pretty sure about the battery statistics. Apple says that Apple Watch has a "all day" battery life feature, which means all day wake up, not 24 hours.

As always, within a few hours after Apple Watch is available, iFixit does a device teardown and finds a little more about the battery. Inside the 38mm Apple Watch they found a 3.8V 205 mAh battery. Apple says that the larger Apple Watch 42mm has a slightly longer battery life, so it's likely that the model has a slightly larger battery.

Apple has a new model of Apple Watch launch in 2017 - and this one sounds like BEAST.

The next version of Apple Watch seems to be coming with optional LTE connectivity, which means you do not need an iPhone to run it.

7 EASY Tricks That Increase Battery Durability for Apple Watch

This is combined with Apple AirPod headphones that make a rather interesting proposition, as you can, technically, make calls and messages with both devices (and do not require an iPhone).

"LTE Apple Watch will require a separate monthly data package, which is a barrier to buying," notes Tom's Hardware. "But being able to track exercises, receive text messages, call, download songs, get weather warnings and even use Apple Pay to buy stuff, all without carrying an iPhone in your pocket, could prove to attract a lot of current and future candidates. "

Apple Watch 3 is likely to pack in the following improvements:

  • More Design, The First Possible Circular Option.
  • Battery Upgrades
  • Better Views
  • LTE
  • Advanced GPS
  • More biometric sensors

Either way, all Apple Watch models tend to last about 18 hours based on mixed usage. It's not bad, but if you want to extend your Apple Watch battery life much longer, be sure to follow the tips below.

1. Always upgrade to latest Apple Watch software.

This is very important and many users fail to do so. Increased battery life often occurs from tweaking software algorithms. Apple often adjusts this algorithm in software updates. If you want to have an older Apple Watch battery life, be sure to update the software on your device as soon as Apple releases it. To update Apple Watch software open the Apple Watch companion app on your iPhone and go to My Watch> General> Software Update.

2. Always update your iPhone software.

This is really an antithetical suggestion to many people. How to update iPhone software help Apple Watch the battery life? That's because Apple Watch is a companion accessory for the iPhone and it requires the iPhone to act as a hub to function. Apple Watch talks with iPhone via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Most of the iOS software updates to iPhone tweaks offer this connectivity technology, which makes them more power efficient. By ensuring your iPhone software remains up to date, you can make sure Apple Watch and your iPhone will communicate using the lowest battery drain. To keep your iPhone software up to date open the Settings app and go to General> Software Update.

3. Turn on Power Saving Mode to disable the heart rate sensor

The heartbeat sensor is a great feature of Apple Watch - one of the few sensors offered by Apple watch that the iPhone does. But man, this is a pig battery. If you do not care about using the heartbeat function or just want to turn it off to save the much-needed battery for the afternoon you can disable the heartbeat sensor by enabling Power Saving Mode. To do so open the Apple Watch companion app on your iPhone and go to My Watch> Workout and turn on Power Saving Mode.

4. Keep Bluetooth turned on in your iPhone

If you turn off Bluetooth on iPhone, the only way that Apple Watch and your iPhone can do it is via Wi-Fi. And Wi-Fi is much more power-hungry than Bluetooth. That's why it's always important to make sure Bluetooth on your iPhone is turned on.

5. Disable the Activate on Wrist Lift feature

Apple Watch has an awesome feature that automatically wakes it up and turns on the screen as you lift your wrist to watch your watch. Use the accelerometer as a prompt. But while this is useful and saves usage time, these batteries can exhaust very active power with their hands. For example, if you "talk with your hands", gesturing wildly, your Apple Watch will be activated a lot because you think you want to see it. To disable the Activate on Wrist Lift feature in Apple Watch choose Settings> General and enable Activate on Wrist Lift.

6. If you are a sports fan, consider getting a Bluetooth heartbeat chest strap

As mentioned above, Apple Watch has a heartbeat sensor, which is amazing, but the sensor also drains a very large battery, which is not amazing. If you are a great fitness enthusiast and use Apple Watch in your workout a lot, you may want to consider getting a Bluetooth heartbeat chest strap. The Bluetooth strap will use fewer batteries that transmit your heartbeat information to Apple Watch than the Apple Watch Heart pulsating sensor that will be used alone.

7. Keep the notifications to a minimum

Apple Watch is great because you can glance at your wrist to see your latest notifications. But remember: every notification you receive is your battery drain. With that in mind, enable notifications for non-essential apps. Do you really need to see notifications whenever someone likes the cat videos you post on Facebook? We do not think so.
